The Tale of a Whale
When I was asked to help a client design a big boys' room I was not sure how the little boy would take moving in. After all moving from a cot to a bed is a big step in one's early life! I worked with my client to develop a Concept that would direct the colour scheme and furnishing choices and helped with contacts and purchasing the items. From a custom wardrobe to a stripey whale bed fellow, the room was wonderfully transformed from a cavernous store room to a fresh but cosy place for a big boy to sleep, grow and play. And my small client responded by settling in beautifully. As I was looking around the finished room with his mother, he shushed us - his whale was sleeping!
Feature 1
A new toy joins a childs' familiar fiends from his cot to make him feel at home in his new room.
Feature 2
The dreamy abstract artwork spoke for the colour scheme of the room - dusky navy and pale grey with crisp white accents.
Feature 3
Traditional style wardrobe by Lifestyle Wardrobes is fitted with shelving as well as hanging space. A circular charcoal braided rug from Armadillo brings a childs' scale to the lofty period room.
The white painted furniture contrasts beautifully against the original jarrah floorboards. A little nightstand holds precious things and a lamp for bedtime stories. The bed, from Out of the Cot, has removeable side rail and a trundle for future sleepovers.
