Just before last last Christmas, we sold our home. In the first weekend, above asking price! While we had an amazing agent, Xavier from Yard Property, I'd like to think that the way we set out our home helped. We tried to imagine who would want to buy the house and styled it up to show how it would work.
Here's some of the things we did.....
Made sure our jacarandas were in full bloom! We cleaned up the flowers between each viewing so only a fresh lilac carpet met viewers.
We filled a small truck with furniture from the house and put it in storage. A sure fire way to make a house look spacious.
We removed a lot from all the shelving in our house to make more negative space, and styled them fit to kill.
We kept the childrens' rooms super neat with an lots of storage options on show. The kids were very good about helping with this - they wanted that new house with the pool!
These IKEA TV units were great for neatening up our small walk in robe.
And colourful towells, fresh flowers and luxe toiletries glammed up the bathrooms
Our agent said 'add greenery' and we delivered!
My favourite part of the home was my gallery wall and to sell the house, I styled it to suit the English Cottage theme of the agents' description.
Our home went to a lovely young couple starting off where we were 17 years before. Although it was sad to leave the house where our children grew up, it felt really good to know that it would be loved by people like this. Our neighbours were also happy - we could have sold the home to investors quickly with no effort at all but making a more attractive property bought quality buyers and we left the neighbourhoood with many friendly farwells!
